Minarets Torn Down, Mosques Sealed, Worship Criminalized: Lahore Becomes the New Epicentre of Anti-Ahmadiyya Terror

Raiwind and Islampura Mosques Attacked as TLP-Led Mobs Terrorize with Police Backing

The International Human Rights Committee (IHRC) is deeply alarmed by two violent incidents targeting the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan where mosques were sealed, worshippers criminalized, and extremist demands enforced by state authorities.

Raiwind: Minaret Demolished; Worshippers Arrested

On 21 March 2025, a TLP mob surrounded the Ahmadi Mosque near Madina Market Road, Raiwind, Punjab demanding arrests and demolition of minarets. Police arrested four Ahmadis and registered FIR No. 2055/25 under Section 298-C against three named Ahmadis, and 30 others for offering Friday prayers. They continue to be imprisoned in Camp Jail, Lahore.

A viral video shows TLP members celebrating the destruction of a minaret, while police stood by and later sealed the mosque. One mob leader declared, “They will get no security until the minarets crumble.” See video1.

Islampura (Chauhan Park): Mosque Sealed; Elderly Worshipper Detained

On 21 March 2025, during Friday prayers, TLP-led clerics incited a mob outside the Ahmadiyya Muslim mosque in Chauhan Park, Islampura, chanting anti-Ahmadi slogans. Police detained 80-year-old Mr. Ishtiaq and went on to seal the mosque.

An FIR (No. 06/25) was filed under Sections 295-A, 298-B, 298-C, and 416 against eight named Ahmadis and 40 unknown worshippers. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community remains under threat.

Their only “crime”: offering peaceful prayers inside their own place of worship. See video2.

A Coordinated TLP Terror Campaign: Ramadan Marked by Persecution

The attacks in Raiwind and Islampura are part of a wider, systematic assault led by Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) against the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. Since the start of 2025, TLP has intensified its campaign of hate, sealing mosques, arresting worshippers, and desecrating graves, with disturbing frequency and near-total impunity.

This persecution has escalated further during the holy month of Ramadan, turning a time of peace into one of fear and violence for Ahmadi Muslims. Peaceful prayer gatherings have led to arrests, elderly individuals have been detained, and entire communities terrorized under mob threats.

With discriminatory laws like Sections 295-A, 29-A and 298-C backing them, TLP’s mobs operate freely while law enforcement either stands by or actively assists. This is no longer passive discrimination—it is state-enabled religious persecution, carried out in broad daylight against one of Pakistan’s most vulnerable minorities.

Pakistan Is Criminalizing Worship, It Is State-Sanctioned Apartheid

Pakistan is now a country where identifying as an Ahmadi is punishable, minarets are illegal, and the right to exist with dignity is denied. The world must not wait for this to escalate further. The warning signs are here, the evidence is clear, and the time to act is now. From prayers to gravestones, no Ahmadi is safe in today’s Pakistan. This is not just bigotry, it is state-enabled religious apartheid.

IHRC Calls for Immediate Global Response

The International Human Rights Committee (IHRC) makes an urgent appeal to:

  • The United Nations, European Union, United States, United Kingdom, and OIC member states.
  • International human rights watchdogs and religious freedom advocates.

We demand:

  1. Immediate release of all Ahmadis detained for peaceful religious worship.
  2. Unsealing of Ahmadi mosques in Raiwind, Islampura and anywhere else in Pakistan they are being unjustly sealed.
  3. Accountability for police officers who enabled or ignored mob attacks and continue to do so.
  4. Repeal of discriminatory anti-Ahmadiyya laws from Pakistan’s Penal Code.
  5. Call for Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) to be officially designated as a terrorist organization and permanently banned for inciting violence, orchestrating religious hatred, and leading systematic attacks against the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
