Pakistan’s Brutal Persecution Of Ahmadis Intensifies Ferociously

Vandalism of Ahmadi Mosque Takes Place Under Government Supervision

Ahmadis in Pakistan have been reduced to appalling deprivation of their freedom of religion, faith and practice and their places of worship are being destroyed ruthlessly. During the past couple of days, four Mosques were desecrated and their domes and Minarets knocked down with the support of police and other law enforcing agencies.

The Government of Pakistan continues to perpetuate such horrific vandalism and violence against the law abiding and peace loving Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

1- On 01st Oct 2024 — A shocking incident of religious vandalism occurred in the village of Murd Chak 45, District Sheikhupura, after midnight and continued until around 2:30 a.m. on October 2, 2024. The Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Sangla Hill, accompanied by a large police force, laborers and trolleys led a midnight operation to dismantle parts of a historic mosque in the village.

A Police Mobile and a motorcycle also were deployed on patrolling to keep an eye on the surrounding areas. The Police while taking action demolished the Minarets and applied the Cement on the Kalima (The Islamic Creed). Later the District President of Tehrik Labbaik Pakistan Jahanian branch thanked the officials for this action in a press conference, available on video[1].

IHRC has continuously raised the voice since many months over attacks on Ahmadiyya Muslims places of worship and graves. Attacks on their members have intensified. Most have come to light through social media and International NGOs.

In July 2024, a group of top UN Human Rights experts including UN Special Rapporteurs urged an “immediate end to discrimination and violence against Ahmadis in Pakistan, citing documented evidence of “extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests and detentions, attacks on places of worship and curtailment of free expression, peaceful assembly and association.” Apparently, their pleas fell on deaf ears.

We once again strongly urge the international community to impress upon the Government of Pakistan the need to discharge any absurd cases against Ahmadis and release all held in custody and thus honor its responsibility to provide effective protection and freedom of religious practice to Ahmadis, and ensure that perpetrators of such vicious actions should be brought to justice, to bring its laws and practices in conformity with international standards as ordained by Article 20 and United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights Article 2, 18, and 20, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) Article 25, 26.
