A City of Faith Marked for Persecution—Extremism in Broad Daylight
On September 6 & 7, 2025, extremist group Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has announced a mass procession through Chenab Nagar (Rabwah)—a city that is home to 99% of the world’s Ahmadi Muslims.
This is not a peaceful march. It is a calculated plan to shut down the city, confine residents to their homes, and incite violence against an already persecuted community. It is a blueprint for terror masquerading as religious devotion.
Explicit Calls to Violence
TLP leaders have made their intentions clear:
“Kill whoever abuses the Prophet… If we are stopped, our procession will not take place in Chiniot City, but in Chenab Nagar. Our Central leadership will come… If we live or die, it is for the Prophet.”
These are not symbolic words. They are direct incitements to violence, timed deliberately for September 7—the anniversary of Pakistan’s 1974 constitutional amendment declaring Ahmadis “non-Muslim.” For decades, this date has been used by extremists to inflame hatred and legitimize persecution.
Apartheid in Action: A City Held Hostage
The planned march is part of Pakistan’s systemic campaign of religious apartheid:
- Ahmadis criminalized for worship.
- Mosques desecrated and sealed.
- Graves destroyed.
- Charity criminalized.
- Now: A whole city threatened with siege and violence.
The state cannot claim ignorance. The threat is public. The perpetrators have named the time, place, and community they plan to terrorize.
